Graham Coughlan ahead of Newport County’s Sky Bet League Two fixture against MK Dons at the Stadium MK.
“One thing’s for sure, we’ll give it our all” – Newport County gaffer, Graham Coughlan ahead of tomorrow’s fixture against Mk Dons.
After a well-fought 1-0 win at home against 8th place Gillingham last Saturday, Coughlan remains confident that his side can continue their confident run when heading into the game against promotion chashing MK Dons tomorrow afternoon.
“We want to obviously go and carry on. We're going into games now, confident. We're going into games that we're looking forward to.”
“We want to go and carry on in good form” he insisted.
“And if we can continue scoring goals the way we scored last Saturday, which was an unbelievable goal, that would be fantastic.
“It was everything that we asked of the lads, it was a really solid performance.”
With the next four fixtures including teams who are all currently in the top seven, and only three points separating 7th and 16th, every game is crucial for the Exiles.
“It would be a great achievement to get the 49 points, and to have one more game left in February” Coughlan said.
“Look, let's not tempt fate. We've got a clean sheet last week. Another couple of clean sheets between now and the end of the season will be very, very nice."
However, Coughlan did not dismiss the difficulty that MK Dons will bring. However, he was confident that his side can bring a good challenge to the game, and can hopefully leave with a positive result:
“They create shooting opportunities. All around, they've got a really, good team, to be fair. Big stadium, lovely stadium.
“And they will be up there, they will be up there. And like I say, I probably said that at the start of the season. Anybody who finishes above MK Dons would be in a really, healthy, strong position.
“We enjoy challenging those bigger clubs. We enjoy challenging those clubs that have a lot more than us.
“And again, this will be another brilliant, brilliant challenge” Coughlan stated.
“It's one we're looking forward to, and I think I'd let MK Dons worry about us rather than us worry about them.
“We'll give our best, best account of ourselves. And hopefully on the day, that will be good enough.”
