Newport County full-back, Shane Mcloughlin, spoke of his expectations ahead of tomorrow’s Sky Bet League Two clash as Newport face MK Dons.
As the Exiles travel to fifth placed MK Dons tomorrow afternoon, McLoughlin understands the importance of getting the best possible results on the road:
“Yeah, it'll be a difficult game. We know that they're probably going to have a lot of the ball.
“Hopefully we can implement our game plan and give them a good game, I feel like we can give anyone a good game.” He stated confidently.
“We've played some top teams this season, but in this league, every team is. So, there's no easy games, on any given weekend.” He said.
“You never know who's going to win sometimes in League Two. So hopefully we keep our consistency, and we keep picking up results.”
McLoughlin expressed how crucial every game is at this point in the season, especially with the league table being so tight:
“Every game is a big game. Every next game is a big game, really” he emphasised.
“There’s a couple of tough trips coming up, but we're only focused on tomorrow, for now.”
Despite having the most starts so far this season, and six goals under his belt. McLoughlin continues to set more goal targets for himself, while relishing the time he’s had on the pitch and hopes it continues for the rest of the campaign:
“From last season, where I didn't probably get to play as many games as I wanted to, it was something that I really needed and I've been enjoying getting that week in, week out.”
“It’s something that I wanted to do. I really wanted to kind of be involved in every game and keep going,” The 26-year-old stated.
“It's enjoyable because once you get into a rhythm and a run, you don't want to stop”.
“It's nice to have that competition for places right now and having a strong team, strong squad. I think that's what you need if you want to compete.”
