This afternoon, academy graduate Momodou Touray has joined Southern League Premier Division side Merthyr Town on a short-term three month loan deal.
Momodou was one of the stars of last season's undefeated U18s Academy Team and caught the eye of manager Michael Flynn who has invited the 18-year-old to train with the first team on a number of occasions. Momodou also featured in a number of pre-season friendlies (including 90 minutes against Merthyr Town) and has travelled to many of the first team games this season to gain experience of being around the squad.
Momodou will continue to learn and gain experience as he heads to Merthyr Town on a three-month loan with work experience and will join up with Gavin Williams' squad ahead of The Martyrs’ away game vs Stratford Town tomorrow.
Merthyr manager Gavin Williams said "We were impressed with Momodou during our pre-season friendly, and we look forward to working with him during his time with us.
"I would like to thank Newport County for agreeing to the loan which I am sure will be beneficial to all parties, and it continues the good relationship we have with Newport."
The Club would like to wish Momodou and Merthyr Town FC all the best for the duration of the loan and the forthcoming Season.
