Newport County is delighted to announce the signing of Cameron Evans, subject to EFL approval.
The versatile defender has agreed to a two-year deal with the Exiles after impressing on trial during pre-season.
Evans came through the ranks at Swansea City after joining the club at under-nine level, having grown up a stone's throw away from the Swansea.com Stadium.
During his time in SA1, he served as the under-18s' vice-captain during the 2018-19 season, while he wore the armband in the under-19s' FAW Youth Cup final victory over TNS.
Cameron - the younger brother of former County midfielder Jack Evans - made his senior debut for the Swans in an FA Cup clash against Stevenage in 2021. He then moved on loan to Waterford soon after, where he appeared 35 times gaining experience at senior level.
More recently, the 23-year-old has spent time out in the League of Ireland with Sligo Rovers on a permanent deal, before returning to the UK with a spell at Taunton Town in the National League South.
After putting pen-to-paper, the former Wales under-19 international said: “I’m absolutely buzzing to get the deal over the line.
“I’ve been on trial over the last couple of weeks and got given a great opportunity, so I’m just really happy that I impressed enough to earn a contract.
“It’s a great group to be a part of and I can’t wait to get going.”
Welcome to Newport County, Cameron!
