Newport County is pleased to announce the loan signing of David Ajiboye from Peterborough United for the remainder of the 2024-25 season, subject to international clearance.
Ajiboye, 26, an experienced and dynamic attacking winger, brings a wealth of experience to the Exiles, having made 73 appearances for the League One side.
Born in Bromley, he began his youth career at Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion, where he signed a two-year scholarship in 2015.
During his time with Brighton’s youth set-up, he made his EFL Trophy debut in 2017, facing Milton Keynes Dons in a 2-0 defeat.
Following a successful loan spell at Worthing, where he scored an impressive 21 goals in 45 appearances during the 2018-19 season, Ajiboye moved to Sutton United in 2019 on a permanent deal.
His time at Sutton saw him make a significant impact as he played a crucial role in the U’s promotion to the EFL and was later named in the National League Team of the Season in 2020-21.
Ajiboye made his League Two bow for Sutton in August 2021 where is continued growth in the EFL caught the attention of Peterborough United, where he signed a three-year contract in 2022.
He now joins Newport County after a recent loan spell at York City, eager to contribute to the Exiles’ attacking options for the remainder of campaign.
After putting pen-to-paper, Ajiboye said: “I’m delighted to be here and to get the deal over the line.
“It’s something that I wanted to do for a while to get out and play more football, so I’m looking forward to hitting the ground running.
“I just hope I can help the team out as much as possible while I’m here and help climb up the table.”
