David Ajiboye is determined "to hit the ground running" at Newport County after completing his loan move from Peterborough United, subject to international clearance.
The 26-year-old winger joins the Exiles until the end of the season and could be in line to make his debut in Saturday’s clash against Port Vale.
Ajiboye becomes Newport’s second signing of the January transfer window following the arrival of Lewis Webb, bolstering their attacking options as they look to kickstart the new year.
Having made 73 appearances for Peterborough in all competitions, the winger brings invaluable experience from League One, where he’s showcased his speed, creativity, and ability to contribute in the final third.
“I’m delighted to be here and to get it all done,” said Ajiboye. “It’s something I’ve really wanted.
“I’ve been speaking with my agent and Peterborough about the move. Newport showed interest, and everything sounded positive. I also had a great conversation with the manager, which really convinced me.
“I think having plenty of games under my belt will definitely help coming in. A lot of players benefit from experience, and I hope I can contribute to the team and help us move up the table.
“I’m quick, I like to dribble with the ball at my feet, and I can deliver a good cross which hopefully can pay off for us in attack.
“My aim is to hit the ground running straight away. Get lots of assists, score plenty of goals, and, of course, plenty of wins for the team this season.
“That’s what every player dreams of - hitting the ground running. Hopefully, I can get a goal or an assist early on and build from there.
“I’m really looking forward to the opportunity. I’ve played here a few times before, so it’s exciting to now be on the other side and playing for Newport in front of the Amber Army.”
