Newport County Under-18s kick off their FA Youth Cup campaign against Swindon Town on Tuesday night (7pm).
The young Exiles head to the County Ground buoyed by a solid 1-1 draw away at Portsmouth over the weekend.
Entering the first round, County aim to build on a strong start to the season, having secured key victories against Bromley and Gillingham in the EFL Youth Alliance League.
Last season, the two sides met twice, with Swindon coming out on both occasions - first with a 5-2 win at the start of the campaign, followed by a 2-0 victory in the return fixture.
Speaking prior to his side’s first round test, academy manager Luke Hussey said: “It’s going to be a big test for our young lads.
“The Youth Cup is a prestigious competition that is a highlight of every youth team's season that everyone in the Academy looks forward to.
“We know that Swindon Town will be tough opposition and that they had a good run last season.
“The players are really excited and looking forward to the tie and the staff are confident that we will represent the club positively.”
