Cameron Antwi has vowed Newport County will not waver from a winning mentality as they look to build on a positive start to their pre-season campaign.
The Exiles recorded back-to-back wins on Tuesday night after sealing a 2-0 victory against Cymru South side, Pontypridd United at USW Sports Park.
The midfielder got on the scoresheet in the clash at Treforest as he steered home a brilliant finish past Kane Draper to double the Exiles' lead in the second half.
And Antwi wants his side to keep on building ahead of his debut season in League Two following his recent move from Cardiff City.
“I felt good to open my account tonight. It’s always great to get on the scoresheet and to do it so soon here makes it even better,” said Antwi.
“Scoring goals in pre-season always helps with confidence and hopefully tonight’s goal can set me up for the season ahead.
“I’ve settled in really well with the lads. Obviously, I know the area well from time at Cardiff, but I’ve really enjoyed being a part of the team so far.
“Working under Nelson and Daf has been really good. There’s been some great sessions on display and I’m really looking forward to the new season.
“Creating a winning mentality is important, even if it’s just pre-season. Two wins from two is a good start for us.
“Winning games of football is important no matter what the occasion and we’ve just got to continue building on our performances each week.
“The first two games have been really positive from our perspective as it’s allowed us to take what we’ve been working on in training into a game situation.
“As has been reiterated by all of the lads, it’s just about continuing to build on that now and making sure we’re ready for the first game in League Two.”
