Former Newport County favourite Steve Lowndes will be the guest of honour for the visit of Morecambe to Rodney Parade on Tuesday night (March 12, 7.45pm).
Lowndes will be the guest speaker in the Bisley Lounge as the club enjoys another hospitality experience under the lights for the crucial League Two clash.
The creative midfielder played a major part in the club’s most successful period in its history. Having started his professional career at the club in 1977 after being spotted at Monmouth Town, Lowndes helped Newport clinch promotion to the Third Division, lift the Welsh Cup and reach the quarter-finals of the 1981 European Cup Winners Cup.
The former Welsh international (10 caps) made over 200 appearances for the club before being sold to Millwall for £55,000 in 1983. He went on to play for Barnsley and Hereford before returning to his home-town club in 1992 where he made another 150 appearances up until 1996.
