As it is currently the close season, talks naturally turn to transfers, pre-season fixtures and other events happening at the club.
We’re well into the close season now, but things at Newport County AFC continue to be busy. With hard work going on in all departments to ensure success off the pitch as well as on it in the lead up to the new season.
I have reviewed the way the media team have previously operated and in response have formulated a plan. A plan that has now been signed off, to improve the communication to you the fans. An important part of this is to produce regular communications. I will be communicating in a regular dialogue form, and this is the first edition of this.
June
- Pre-season fixtures – With fixtures with Undy AFC, Bristol City and Yeovil Town already announced, you can expect more announcements in the coming weeks updating supporters about where County will be playing in the build-up to the 2023/24 season.
- Rodney Parade pitch update – This month the best pitch in league two will be undergoing some essential maintenance work. We will be covering this process through images, videos, and updates across our social channels.
- Training & Leisurewear launch – The launch of our Training & Leisurewear kit will be released this month, which will be made available both online and in both of our stores! This will be launched across all of our media channels.
- Owners & Shareholders meeting - You can expect more information published about our Owners and Shareholders meeting that is planned to take place on the 13th of this month.
- Club and Trust AGM’s - Information around the club’s and trust’s AGM will be released this month across our channels and the specifics of when and where the meeting will be held.
- Retained Players & Signings – With James Clarke signing a two-year contract extension, you can expect to see more details on players re-signing deals at the club and players becoming Exiles over the months ahead.
- Fixture release date – The all-important date in every fan’s diary! Who are we playing? When are we playing them? On the 22nd June we will be able to announce our fixtures for the upcoming 2023/24 season and we can release further analysis around the fixtures in due course.
July
- Pre-season fixtures – This month we will be partaking in our pre-season friendly fixtures prior to the start of the 2023/24 season, although the majority of these will be behind closed doors, there will be an opportunity for you to come and back the Exiles in person!
- FIFA competition – Our FIFA competition in partnership with the Dragons RFC went down incredibly well last time out, with over 83 players from over 12 different countries competing to win a £100 VX3 voucher. This month we will be holding another competition with the opportunity to win more Newport County AFC VX3 merchandise.
- Newport County AFC’s away kit launch – Newport County AFC's official away kit for the 2023/24 season will be released this month and will be available to purchase online and in our stores after the release on the 17th.
- Player Signings and announcements – Similarly to last month you can expect announcements around player signings and video interviews with new Exiles!
August
- Season start – With the 2023/24 season starting this month (Saturday 5th August). You can expect all relevant information around who we are playing and all ticketing information to accompany it, to be released prior to this date.
