Newport County AFC are pleased to welcome Joe Dunne to the club as assistant manager to Graham Coughlan.
Joe joins the club having worked at Colchester United, Cambridge United, Bristol Rovers, and Mansfield and during his established coaching career to date.
After a playing career that saw him represent Gillingham, Colchester and Dover Athletic, Dunne joined the staff at Colchester following his retirement in 2003.
Joe was part of the furniture at Colchester, taking up multiple roles in the club’s coaching staff up until 2012 when he was made manager of the club.
In his two full seasons in charge, Joe led Colchester to League One safety with 20th and 16th-placed finishes before moving onto Cambridge as assistant manager under Shaun Derry.
After Derry’s departure from Cambridge in February 2018, Joe took interim charge and guided the U’s to a comfortable midtable finish in League Two as Cambridge finished 12th.
Joe then joined County gaffer Coughlan at both Bristol Rovers and Mansfield to assist Graham in his two previous managerial positions to date.
He has most recently been back at Colchester as assistant to Wayne Brown, but left the club earlier this year with Brown.
On Joe's arrival, manager Graham Coughlan said: “I’m delighted to welcome Joe to the club.
“I obviously know him well from our time together at Bristol Rovers and Mansfield and I know his due diligence and his coaching ability will suit us down to the ground.
“I’m excited to have him on board and I can’t wait for us to get going.”
Welcome to Newport, Joe!
