Dom Telford's hat-trick, as well as goals from Courtney Baker-Richardson and Finn Azaz, earned Newport County a resounding 5-0 win over Stevenage.
Telford put us 1-0 and 2-0 up before Baker-Richardson made it 3-0 before half-time. Telford then got his hat-trick and our fourth before Azaz wrapped up the win to make it 5-0 early in the second half.
After a cagey opening 10 minutes for both teams, we broke the deadlock in the 12th minute through Telford who tapped in his fifth goal in three games when Stevenage failed to clear their lines from a Robbie Willmott cross.
The ball dropped to Telford and, from only a couple of yards out, he knocked the ball into the net for one of the easiest goals he will ever score.
Telford then got his third brace in a row in the 28th minute with his shot from just inside the box taking a deflection before nestling into the bottom, right corner after great work from Oliver Cooper to tee up Telford.
It was then Telford's turn to set up a goal rather than scoring one, as he played in strike partner Baker-Richardson who took a touch and thundered in a strike from the right of the box into the top left corner in the 34th minute.
With Newport in a commanding 3-0 first-half lead, we almost made it four shortly before the break but Telford's header from Aaron Lewis' left-sided cross was kept out well by Adam Smith at his near post.
Stevenage rarely threatened Joe Day's goal in the first half, with Luke Norris having a shot saved and Chris Lines hitting a free-kick into the wall at 1-0 summing up the away side's opening 45.
And it only got better for County, as Telford got his hat-trick goal three minutes after the restart with a curled shot into the bottom left corner from the right-hand side of the goal.
The goals kept flowing too, with Finn Azaz the next to get on the scoresheet and the next to get on the scoresheet in some style too with the midfielder striking a superb shot into the top right corner from 25 yards.
Cooper also tried his luck from distance but his swerving and dipping shot was palmed away by goalkeeper Adam Smith to deny us a sixth.
