Newport County AFC will play their first behind-closed-doors friendly in the coming days as preparations continue ahead of the 2020/21 Sky Bet League Two campaign.
The Exiles are scheduled to play four behind-closed-doors friendlies against EFL and Non-League opposition before the new season gets underway next month, with County’s campaign set to kick-off with a Carabao Cup first-round tie on Saturday 5 September.
All four pre-season fixtures will be played without supporters present in line with the Government’s guidelines due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Michael Flynn’s men, who have been out of action since the Sky Bet League Two game against Carlisle in March, have completed their second week of pre-season training.
They have now entered stage two of the EFL’s Return to Training Protocol, meaning the Exiles can now train together in a full group which includes contact training.
Match reports will follow after each of the Exiles’ pre-season fixtures, and the full season schedule will be released on Friday 21st August at 9am.
