Newport County AFC are delighted to announce that Aston Villa Striker Harry McKirdy has joined the Club on loan until the end of the season subject to FA, EFL and international clearance.
The 20-year-old was a scholar at Stoke City during his younger years before switching to Villa Park in 2011 to continue his development.
Harry signed his first professional contract in the summer of 2016, that was later extended by a year to 2019, but is yet to feature in Villa's first team despite impressing consistently throughout Villa's youth ranks.
McKirdy featured for fellow Sky Bet League Two Club Stevenage for the first half of the 2016/17 season, scoring two goals in 13 appearances for Boro before an injury meant his time at the Lamex was cut short.
McKirdy joined Crewe in January 2018 on a loan deal until the end of the season from Aston Villa, scoring three times in 16 appearances for the Railwaymen including the opener in Crewe's win at Rodney Parade last season.
When the signing was confirmed, Manager Michael Flynn spoke to #iFollowExiles: "He's highly thought of at Aston Villa, got some great experience at Crewe last season and I am happy that it is over the line.
"He adds to our numbers up front and gives us some real strength in depth until the end of the season. I am very excited to be working with him."
Subject to clearance, Harry is available for selection for this weekend's Sky Bet League Two clash against Grimsby Town. Purchase tickets online here for that match to join the Amber Army on the road this weekend.
