Newport County AFC are delighted to announce the signing of Striker Adebayo Azeez from Cambridge United on a permanent deal, subject to EFL, FA and international clearance.
24-year-old Adebayo joined Charlton Athletic aged 14 where he went on to sign the first professional contract of his career.
During his time at the Addicks, the striker gained experience through several loan spells at Wycombe, Leyton Orient, Torquay and Dagenham & Redbridge, before agreeing a permanent deal with AFC Wimbledon in 2014.
Possessing plenty of pace, superb finishing ability as well as a direct style of play, Adebayo won promotion from League Two with Wimbledon scoring 14 goals during his 98 matches at the South-West London club.
A move to the Scottish Premiership with Partick Thistle then arose for the forward, before signing at Cambridge United's Abbey Stadium during the summer of 2017.
Following the completion of the deal, Manager Michael Flynn said: "I'm delighted. He's got blistering pace, He adds to our attacking line-up and the competition for places shows we are planning for the future as well.
"I am sure if he fulfills his potential and continues to learn from us he will be a Championship player before long. I am really excited."
After signing the deal, Adebayo said "I am so pleased it is all over the line now. As soon as I heard about Newport's interest, I was up for coming down and signing straight away.
"I'd describe myself as an athletic player, I'd like to think I am pretty fast, I always work as hard as I can for the team and try and stick as many chances as I can away in the back of the net."
Adebayo is available for selection for this weekend's League game against Grimsby. Purchase tickets for that clash by clicking here.
We look forward to seeing you in action, Ade! Welcome to the County.
