Mickey Demetriou signs a two-year deal whilst Lenell John-Lewis does not extend his stay with the Exiles.
Lenell John-Lewis will not be extending his stay at Newport County AFC. He has joined Shrewsbury Town FC.
The striker had a difficult season last year with injury keeping him out for the majority of the year but he returned to play a crucial part in the last two games of the season winning a penalty against Notts County FC.
The Club would like to thank Lenell for his hard-work and commitment whilst at the Club and would like to particularly thank him for his efforts with the County in the Community Team for which he won The David Williams Community Award at our Annual Awards Presentation.
Meanwhile, defender Mickey Demetriou has signed a two year deal with Newport County AFC.
The left-footed centre back was instrumental in last season’s “Great Escape” scoring 4 goals and helping to keep 4 clean sheets in 7 games. His efforts earned him the title of League 2 April Player of the Month and helped the Club secure league status.
On signing for the Club, Mickey said: “I’m really happy to get the deal over the line and I’m looking forward to next season. We ended the Season well so hopefully we can start afresh now whilst building on what we did towards the end of last year.”
Manager Michael Flynn said, “I am delighted to get Mickey's deal over the line as he was an important part of staying up last season. Mickey has a great left foot and is now entering a stage in his career where his experience and quality is going to be vital for us.”
