PAUL BIGNOT SIGNS FOR THE EXILES

The Club are pleased to announce the signing of defender Paul Bignot on a one-year deal.

The thirty-year-old versatile defender joins the Exiles after a successful trial period at the Club, which saw Paul play an extensive part of the pre-season schedule, as well as travelling to Poland for the pre-season training camp.

Birmingham-born Paul started his career at Crewe Alexandra, before a successful loan spell at Kidderminster Harriers.

The defender made over one-hundred appearances for the Exiles between 2009-2011 and was part of the side that gained promotion from the Conference South.

After leaving County, Paul enjoyed spells with Blackpool and Grimsby and joins the Club after a spell with Icelandic side KeflavĂk.

Speaking at today's Official 2016/17 Team Photo, Paul expressed his delight at rejoining the Exiles.

"I'm delighted that everything is signed and I'm very proud to be back here playing for Newport County AFC."

"The Club has grown a huge amount since I was here last and I'm happy that everything was sorted out ahead of the start of the season."

"I'm looking forward to being part of a successful squad and I have already seen how hard-working the players are here and I can't wait to get started."

Manager Warren Feeney added, "I'm delighted that the deal has been agreed and we have managed to secure the services of Paul for the season ahead."

"Paul is a very honest player and his arrival means that we now have a healthy competition for places."

"It is important that he has already been here and been around the lads for the pre-season and he has expressed a desire to play for the Club and I'm sure his addition will be a huge benefit for us."
