ANDY TODD: 'COVENTRY WILL BE A GOOD TEST FOR US'

Assistant Manager Andy Todd looks ahead to Saturday's pre-season fixture against Coventry City.

The Exiles host Coventry City at Spytty Park on Saturday (kick-off 3pm) and Assistant Manager Andy Todd is looking forward to testing the new look squad against a strong Coventry City outfit.

"Coventry will bring a decent squad and they will look to move the ball well."

"We are gearing up for the first game of the season and the Coventry game will be a good test for us as we look to step up our preparations for next season."

"We had two games out in Poland and you can see the players are getting fitter in every game we play. The players are starting to look sharper in training and this time of the season is all about getting players fit and ensuring that they don't peak too early before the start of the season."

Discussing how the pre-season preparations are taking shape, the Assistant Manager says that the squad are feeling the benefit from the pre-season trip to Poland.

"We had more or less a new squad this summer and it was good to get away as a group and use a good training facilities for the week and for the team to bond both on and off the pitch over the course of the week."

"Team spirit and camaraderie means a lot in football. We want characters in the squad and we want leaders on the pitch and we want to see players demanding performances from themselves and the team, so the week was a good opportunity for the players to get to know each other in that sense."
