County sign striker from Halifax FC.
Newport County AFC are delighted to announce the signing of striker Scott Boden from F.C. Halifax Town.
Scott started his career at home-town club of Sheffield United as a trainee. While at Sheffield United Scott was sent out on loan to Finnish Premier League side IFKMariehamn.
Scott returned the English leagues in 2008 to make over one-hundred appearances for Chesterfield FC. During his spell at Chesterfield, Scott was part of the side that won League Two title in the 2011/2012 season.
Loan spells at Macclesfield and Alfreton followed, with Scott making a permanent move to Macclesfield Town for the 2013/2014 season. An impressive season for ‘The Slikmen’ saw Scott score eighteen goals in just over forty appearances for the club.
After his one-year contract with Macclesfield came to an end, Scott signed for Halifax FC in the Vanarama Conference. In his season with Hailfax Scott scored ten goals in just over thirty appearances, helping the club to a creditable 9th place finish in the league.
The twenty-five year old joins County in time for the pre-season schedule, which includes trips to Torquay FC and Eastleigh in the coming weeks.
On signing for County, Scott said: “It has been ongoing for what seems an eternity. I’m just glad that it’s all announced and finalised now.
I met everyone this morning and did a light training session myself. The last two weeks have been a bit of a slug for me but the management knows that, so obviously a lot of hard work this week and we can move on from there.
I knew a couple of lads here last season and I spoke to Rhys Taylor andScott Barrow about the club and it really was an easy decision to join. There was never any doubt in my mind”.
