Newport County manager Jimmy Dack spoke to the press following his sides 2-2 draw with Hartlepool United
County manager Jimmy Dack spoke to the press following his side's 2-2 draw against in-form Hartlepool United who went into the game on the back of four straight wins. "We're pleased with that after being two-nil down, we'll look at it as a point gained" said Dack.County found themselves trailing by two goals after 37minutes. Lee Minshull had turned the ball into his own net after just 15minutes, before Hugill doubled the visitors advantage on 37minutes. "We're disappointed with the two goals we conceded, but they're in good form and they've come here and made it hard for us first half" said Dack.
Darren Jones pulled a goal back for County before the break with a net-busting effort from 18yards out, and Dack felt it was a vital time to score. "It was a great strike from Darren Jones, a great time to score for us to make it 2-1."
Newport top-scorer Aaron O'Connor popped up three minutes into the second half "Aaron pops up again and scores his 11th goal of the season which is great for us" added Dack.
With the scores level County started to take control of the game, but couldn't quite find the killer touch. "In the second half I thought we pinned them back" said Dack "I thought were the dominant team and I thought we were the only team who were going to win it in the second half."
Dack admitted that after coming back from a two goal deficit he was delighted with the result. "I'm over the moon with the players, that group in there never give up, they are such a hard working, honest group, they just want to perform and do well. After being two-down it's a point gained and it's all about momentum, going into these last few games, at the moment we're five games unbeaten which is good form for us going into it."
