Cameron Antwi is a versatile midfielder who joined Newport County in July 2024, signing a two-year deal with the Exiles. Born on 7th October 2001 in London to Ghanaian parents, Antwi has developed into a promising young talent through experiences at several clubs, including Fulham, Blackpool, and Cardiff City.
Antwi began his football journey at Fulham, where he progressed through their youth academy before moving to Blackpool in 2019. At Blackpool, he transitioned from the under-18s to the first team, making his senior debut in a 3-0 EFL Trophy victory over Leeds United in November 2020. To gain further first-team experience, Antwi enjoyed loan spells at Southport and AFC Telford United during his time at Bloomfield Road. He made two appearances in League One for Blackpool before leaving the club at the end of the 2021-22 season.
In 2022, Antwi signed for Cardiff City, where he became a standout player in the club’s under-21 squad. He made his first-team debut in the FA Cup against Sheffield Wednesday, impressing with his composure and technical ability. After spending two seasons with the Bluebirds, Antwi opted for a new challenge at Newport County.
Since joining Newport, Antwi has become an important part of the squad. He made his debut for the club on 10th August 2024 in a League Two match against Cheltenham Town. Known for his energy, versatility, and defensive capabilities, Antwi is expected to be a key figure in Newport County’s midfield as the club aims for success in the 2024-25 season.
