Nick Townsend joined Newport County in August 2018 following a three-year stint with Barnsley, where he made 16 first-team appearances. Since his arrival at Rodney Parade, Townsend has become a key figure for the Exiles, making over 100 appearances and counting.
Born on 1st November 1994 in Solihull, Townsend began his footballing journey at Birmingham City, where he spent 10 years in the academy before progressing to the senior squad in 2013. During his time at Birmingham, he developed his skills further through loan spells at Oxford City and Lincoln City (twice), before joining Barnsley on loan in 2015, a move that became permanent later that year. Townsend made 21 appearances for Barnsley before his transfer to Newport County, where he has since established himself as a vital part of the team's defence.
In addition to his club career, Townsend has also ventured into international football, representing Antigua and Barbuda. Eligible through his family heritage, he made his international debut in 2022 and has since earned several caps for the national team, proving his abilities on the international stage.
