Joshua Seberry became an exciting addition to Newport County in July 2023, signing a two-year contract following an impressive trial. The young Irish defender, known for his athleticism and versatility, has quickly shown his potential in the Exiles' backline.
Born on 15th June 2004 in London and raised in Monasterboice, County Louth, Seberry had a diverse sporting background. Before focusing on football, he was a National Champion in swimming and track and field, while also excelling in Taekwondo. Seberry started playing football at age 12 with Drogheda Boys, before progressing through the academies of Drogheda United and St. Kevin's Boys.
After a brief spell with Shelbourne's academy, where he featured in first-team pre-season friendlies under Damien Duff, Seberry made the move to Newport County. His debut came in the Carabao Cup on 8th August 2023, starting as a right-back in the 3-1 victory against Charlton Athletic. His league debut followed soon after, as a substitute in Newport’s League Two match against Crewe Alexandra on 15th August 2023, before earning his first league start against Colchester United.
Unfortunately, Seberry's promising start was interrupted when he suffered a broken leg in a match against Notts County in October 2023. The injury required surgery and ruled him out of action for several months. Despite the setback, Seberry is determined to return stronger and continue making an impact for Newport County.
