Newport County is delighted to confirm the signing of midfielder, Kai Whitmore, subject to EFL approval.
The 23-year-old joins the Exiles on a two-year deal, having most recently played for JD Cymru Premier side, Haverfordwest County AFC.
Whitmore linked up with the west Wales outfit in May 2023 after leaving Penybont, where he enjoyed a flourishing debut campaign in the Welsh top flight.
A tenacious midfielder, Whitmore featured in all 32 league games in the 2022-23 season for Rhys Griffiths’ men, helping them to secure a top three finish, which booked their place in the UEFA Europa Conference League qualifiers, the same as the Bluebirds last summer.
Last season for Haverfordwest, Whitmore enjoyed a positive campaign under former Newport County player, Tony Pennock, playing a pivotal part in their European clashes with FC Shkendija and B36 Tórshavn.
In total, Whitmore registered 32 appearances in all competitions during his time at Bridge Meadow, scoring four goals.
Speaking after putting pen-to-paper, Whitmore said: “I’m really excited to get started.
“I enjoyed the challenge in the Cymru Premier and I think the experience of playing in Europe, in big stadiums, will help me make the step up.”
Welcome to Newport County, Kai!
