Head coach Nelson Jardim was pleased with aspects of his side's performance despite falling to a 2-1 defeat against Barry Town United on Saturday afternoon.
Aaron Wildig gave the Exiles the lead in the friendly before Kayne McLaggon cancelled out the midfielder’s strike just before half-time.
However, a stunning free kick from Aiden Lewis in the second half sealed victory for the Linnets at Jenner Park.
And despite County's first defeat in pre-season, the Portuguese wants to continue building ahead of the new season in just under a month’s time.
“It was another good work-out for us,” said Jardim.
“We played some good stuff at times, and I thought we were better in the second half.
“Today was another good game for us as it helped us get to know the players and how they operate better once again. I saw some really positive things and I saw some things we can definitely work on.
“We know we need to improve on certain things, particularly set-plays, but the positives are that the boys are trying to play and connect with each other.
"The players' efforts have been fantastic and they were today.
"It's been an intense week for the players with the game on Tuesday, followed by some tough sessions towards the end of the week.
“The boys have been great so far and have started pre-season really well. All the players are gelling well together, and we can see they are a good group of players."
He added: "We have to keep on improving week in, week out now, and be ready for that first game. That’s the only way for us to move forward.
“It takes time to get our message across to the players both on and off the pitch, but we are getting there week by week.
“My job is to help them establish that connection, and as soon as possible.”
