Head Coach Nelson Jardim is preparing for a "tough test" as his side heads to in-form Colchester United tomorrow afternoon.
The Exiles travel to Essex in strong form themselves, having gone unbeaten in their last three matches, which includes impressive away draws against promotion-contenders Notts County and AFC Wimbledon.
However, the challenge awaiting them is Danny Cowley’s U’s, who have been one of the top teams in League Two recently, picking up the most points in the division over the past few weeks.
With the Exiles looking ahead to a busy festive period filled with key fixtures, Jardim knows that tomorrow's match will be another tough assignment as they aim to build on their recent momentum.
“We had two really good performances and results away, and we have to go away again,” said Jardim.
“We were disappointed obviously because we didn’t play last week, but we’re looking forward to getting back out there tomorrow. The team is looking OK, and we’ve got a few boys back for the trip to Colchester.
“They’ve had four wins and five clean sheets in their last seven games, so we know they’re in great shape. It’s going to be another tough test for us because there are no easy games in this division.
"They are definitely hard to beat and are in good form, they can mix up different styles as well.
"They defend well and have quality up front with Lyle Taylor and Jack Payne to just mention two.
"Colchester are always a threat going forward and it's a big test, but we have gained confidence from the last couple of games.
"At the beginning of the season away games were a problem but we now have trust and confidence in what we are doing."
"We hope to continue the way we’ve been playing and hopefully add a win to our recent good draws.
"We need to keep competing, stay organised, and if we maintain this form and progression, we’re confident we’ll keep improving."
