Head coach Nelson Jardim was left disappointed after Newport County fell to a 5-2 defeat against Bromley on Boxing Day.
Two first-half headers from Bromley centre-backs Callum Reynolds and Omar Sowumni gave the hosts a 2-0 lead at the break.
In the second half, further goals from top scorer Michael Cheek and Jude Arthurs compounded County’s misery, despite a late spirited fightback.
“I’m very, very disappointed after that,” Jardim admitted.
“I think we knew this would be a set-play game for the opposition and we just conceded four goals from the set plays. It's just not good enough from us.
“It’s definitely an area we have to improve. When you concede four goals from set plays it’s not much else to say.
“When you look back to the last game against MK Dons we knew this would be a completely different game. The opposition played a different style to us and we had to adjust.
“But when you concede four goals from set plays it’s just too much. Yes, you’ve got to give the opposition credit because the goals they have been scoring from them [set plays], but we knew that was a threat.
“One of the things we needed to do was not to give free-kicks and corners away in our strategy, and to have the ball higher up the pitch, but we didn’t manage to do that.
“We were too slow moving the ball in the first-half, not getting the right passes or finding the right spaces. We were playing too deep and too close to our own box, and that’s something that needs to be assessed.
“The positives from the game, however, were that we stuck with our style and we kept scoring goals as well. We will look to ourselves after today and look to the areas where we can improve.”
