Head coach Nelson Jardim is determined to see his side bounce back as they face Harrogate Town tomorrow afternoon.
The Exiles will be looking to respond to consecutive defeats against Chesterfield and Accrington Stanley at Rodney Parade.
And the Portuguese insists that his side will show the reaction that is needed when they return to home soil.
“It’s been a tough week after the defeat in midweek but we have to re-group and re-focus which is what we’ve done.
“When you look back at the game there were two different levels of energy to start the game, we were not at the levels of intensity and aggression that Accrington were.
“Straight after the game, when I walked into the dressing room, the players were telling some home truths. I can tell you that I didn’t need to speak too much on that front.
“You see results like that in this league but nobody is happy. I was not happy with it, the players were not happy.
"We’ve spoken this week and we know what we need to do tomorrow. Our energy and aggression levels need to be higher, especially in this league. The lads have responded well in training since, and they’ve responded well always this season.”
He added: “We knew from the beginning this season that home games are massive for us, and tomorrow is no different. I want to see a team like the one that played Gillingham tomorrow.
"A team that’s enjoying their football and competing again. If we do this we can have good games and we’ve proven that this season.
“It’s important we show a Newport County performance tomorrow. I can ensure you we’ve got the types of players in this club that will perform.
“If you look to the last 10 games, only eight teams have a better record than us. Obviously we want more and if I was a fan I wouldn’t be happy with the last game, but it's also my duty to look at the bigger picture.
“Now the challenge is to go into the last 10 games and do something similar [to the previous 10] for that comfortable position we were aiming for."
