Newport County kick-off their pre-season campaign against Undy AFC on Saturday afternoon (1pm).
The Exiles will make the annual trip to Causeway as they begin their preparations for the upcoming League Two season.
County have been busy in the transfer market, bringing in nine new players over the summer, so this could be fans’ first chance to see some of those players in action.
Pre-match views
Speaking ahead of the fixture, defender James Clarke said: “We’re looking forward to getting back out there on Saturday.
“It’s been a tough two weeks of training and for us now it’s all about replicating what we’ve been working on in training into a game situation.
“Pre-season is all about fitness levels and that’s certainly the aim of everyone over the next few weeks. We want to get as fit as possible ready for August 10.
“On the whole, training has been really good so far. The boys who were here last year have returned sharp, and the lads that we have brought in over the summer have been really impressive too.”
A look at the opposition
Undy AFC, who play in the third tier of Welsh football, enjoyed a positive season last year in the Ardal Southern East following relegation from the Cymru South in April 2023.
Under the guidance of Lewis Thomas and Mark Crook, the tigers finished the season in 8th place with 40 points, scoring 65 goals.
Last time out
The Exiles opened up their 2023-24 pre-season campaign with a comprehensive 4-0 victory last year.
Goals from Bryn Morris, James Waite and Kiban Rai (2) rounded off a perfect start to County’s preparations.
