Newport County Under-18s continue their FAW Youth Cup campaign when they host AFC Llwydcoed on Sunday afternoon (2pm).
The young Exiles enter the clash at the USW Sport Park in high spirits following a hard-fought draw away at Plymouth Argyle on Tuesday.
County progressed to the first round of this season’s competition thanks to an emphatic 4-0 victory against Afan Lido in the opening qualifying round. A hat-trick from Jac Norris and a second half penalty from Cameron Llewellyn saw off the young Welsh League side at the Marston’s Stadium.
Speaking prior to his side’s Second Round test, academy manager Luke Hussey said: "We are looking forward to hosting AFC Llwydcoed on Sunday in the FAW Youth Cup.
"This is an important competition for our youth team as it creates a pressure that can be difficult to recreate in development games.
"The performance and outcome have a higher priority and this can create a great atmosphere at these games.
"We've had a good reaction to Saturday's defeat with a hard earned point away at Plymouth and the players will be ready for Sunday."
