Kieron Evans | We’ve got to impose ourselves on the game

Kieron Evans

Kieron Evans has urged Newport County to take the opportunity to try and build momentum when they travel to face Bradford City on Monday night (8pm).

The Exiles head to the University of Bradford Stadium following impressive back-to-back victories against Crewe Alexandra and Salford City, to take on a Bantams side sitting three points and five places behind them in the table.

The Cardiff City loanee felt there was plenty to take from the win against the Ammies last time out, but says it is important the Exiles build on it in West Yorkshire.

“We’ve had two really good wins and we really feel like we are starting to gel together as a team,” said the former Wales Under-19 International.

“I think the home game that we won against Crewe was a lot better than the last few performances and Tuesday against Salford was even better again.

“It has taken a bit of time to gel but it's beginning to look better, so we are really looking forward to going to Bradford on Monday now.

“I’ve never been to Valley Parade, but I know Bradford are a big club and get a big crowd at the ground.

“It’s something to look forward to as players and we’ve got to go there and impose ourselves on the game.

“We have to embrace the atmosphere too. We can’t let that get to us at all, we’ve just got to focus on ourselves and do the best we can on the pitch.

“We know it's going to be tough away from home in this league but if we can add away wins to our home form we will look like a right force.”

Evans has proved to be a key asset in County’s attacking ranks this season, making a strong impact since joining on loan this summer.

The winger provided an excellent assist in their last match against Salford and has developed a formidable partnership with Cameron Evans on the right flank.

And Evans believes his connection with the former Swansea City defender is only growing stronger by each game.

“I’ve known Cam for a while and I’ve played with him a few times at youth level with Wales. He’s a great player and it’s clear we work well together as a pair,” added Evans.

“I think we have a good understanding of each other because we know each other off the pitch as well. We have a great connection on that right hand side and so far so good for us.

“Hopefully it can be the same for us again on Monday.”
