Newport County chairman Huw Jenkins has welcomed the arrival of Nelson Jardim to the club’s coaching staff.
Jardim, 45, arrived this week as Lead Coach after spells at Swansea City, Nacional, Birmingham City and Maritimo.
And it will be Jardim and current coaches Dafydd Williams and Jim Hollman (goalkeeping coach) who will start the squad’s pre-season preparations ahead of the new League Two campaign, together with Scott Wickens (Head of performance).
“I’ve known Nelson for 14 years, so I know his character and qualities very well,’’ explained Huw.
“He is a very knowledgeable and tactically astute coach, and we are very lucky to have him here at Newport County.
“When you bring in additional staff to a club that is also looking to establish a different approach, then having a clear understanding of what we are trying to achieve as a group is fundamental.
“It’s critical, especially when you are trying to integrate new players into a football club, that everyone’s ideas and views are aligned to give clarity to those players going forward.
“Nelson is a really important and valuable piece of the jigsaw to move us forward as a football club.’’
