Hospitality | Tim Harris returns for Fleetwood

Wembley

Tim Harris will be the special guest for Newport County's League Two clash against Fleetwood Town on Saturday afternoon (3pm).

Guests can also join head coach Nelson Jardim and the players in the lounge post-match for pictures, autographs and discussion about the game as a new feature of the club’s hospitality offering this season.

A pivotal figure in the club's history, Harris was part of the backroom team that achieved promotion to the Football League in 2013. He will join us in hospitality for County's final home game of October, making it a memorable occasion.

Hailing from Dymock, Gloucestershire, Harris had a distinguished playing career as a goalkeeper, representing several clubs including Shrewsbury Town, Newport County, Cheltenham Town, Redditch United, and Gloucester City during the late 1970s.

He transitioned to management in 1990, initially serving as assistant manager at Gloucester City on two separate occasions, and later taking on managerial roles at Forest Green Rovers, Cinderford Town, Merthyr Tydfil and a five-year spell at County.

In 2006, Harris became the First Team Manager at Gloucester City, successfully guiding the team away from relegation and finishing in 13th place. He then took on the role of General Manager in 2008, leading the club to promotion to the Football Conference in the 2009-10 season.

Shortly after, he joined Newport County as General Manager alongside manager Dean Holdsworth. Under his leadership, the team clinched the Conference South title in 2009-10 and advanced to the Conference Premier. When Holdsworth departed, Harris stepped in as caretaker manager on January 13, 2011.

Following Anthony Hudson’s appointment in April, Harris returned to his role as Director of Football, playing a key part in County's remarkable journey to the Conference Premier play-offs, culminating in a historic victory over Wrexham at Wembley, which ended a 25-year absence from the Football League.
