exiles on the road

Newport County head north to Doncaster Rovers on Saturday afternoon in League Two (3pm).

Ahead of your trip to South Yorkshire, take a read of our away day guide to help plan your journey.

Where is the Eco-Power Stadium?

The Eco-Power Stadium is located at:

Stadium Way,

Doncaster

DN4 5JW

Where will Newport fans be during the game?

Away fans will be housed in the North East corner of the stadium.

How do I get to The Eco-Power Stadium?

There are several ways you can get to Doncaster Rovers this weekend.

Car

Doncaster Rovers is 188 miles from Rodney Parade, making it one of the longer away days of the season. The journey will take around three and a half hours, depending on traffic. We would recommend hitting the road as early as possible.

From the A1 (M) join the M18 Eastbound at Junction 35 (signposted Hull) or from the M1, join the M18 Eastbound at Junction 32. Once on the M18, leave at Junction 3 and take the A6182 towards Doncaster (the stadium is well signposted from Junction 3 and is about one and a half miles away).

You will pass a retail park on your left and then at the next traffic lights (which has the Lakeside Pub visible behind it) turn left onto White Rose Way. The Lakeside Shopping Centre is now on your right (the stadium is located directly behind the shopping centre). At the next island turn right onto the industrial estate and after passing the Tesco distribution centre on your right, turn right at the bottom of the road and the stadium is further down on your left.

Train

If you are travelling up from Newport, then taking the train could prove to be a long and expensive option. There are no direct trains from Newport to Doncaster, so you will need to take a train to Stockport and then swap. This is the easiest route, and it will take around four and a half hours.

Alternatively, there are options to take a train to Bristol Parkway, then switch to take a train to Sheffield before changing again to Doncaster. This option takes around four hours and 15 minutes but is more expensive and requires more changes.

Can I park near the stadium?

There are around 1,000 parking spaces available at the stadium. However, you will need to be there early if you want to get one of these. Alternatively, there are multiple industrial estates near the stadium that have set fees for parking, which is often reasonably priced.

How far is the train station to Doncaster Rovers?

Doncaster station is around a mile and a half from the stadium. This is not going to be walkable for all fans, but if you do fancy a stroll, this will take between 30-40 minutes.

If you take the aforementioned train arriving at 12:35, then you can catch the 56 bus directly from the station interchange at 12:41. You can then jump off at Carriage Drive/White Rose Bay, and you will be just a few minutes walk from the stadium. If you miss that bus, then the next one arrives at 13:11.

Where to eat and drink locally

A popular destination for away fans visiting Doncaster is the Leopard pub, just a few minutes walk from the train station. As we have mentioned, the station is not too close to the stadium, so if you are visiting here, ensure you factor in the bus to the ground.

At the stadium itself, the Belle Vue Bar has been known to welcome both home and away fans. This is a popular spot to catch up with fans from both teams and discuss the game pre-match.

Alternatively, the Lakeside Shopping Village is around a 15-minute walk from the stadium. You will find multiple fast-food outlets there.
