Bobby Kamwa | I think we deserved a bit more from the game

Bobby Kamwa

Bobby Kamwa believed Newport County had the opportunities to secure all three points after their hard-fought goalless draw with Fleetwood Town.

The Exiles recorded their first draw of the season, which could have been a win had Bryn Morris converted a first-half penalty, along with further chances.

Despite the result, Kamwa felt there were plenty of positives to take from the performance, even if they had to settle for a draw in NP19.

“I think we deserved a bit more from the game, if I’m honest,” said the winger.

“The game was a good game and it could have gone either way with both side’s chances.

“From our point of view, the clean sheet is obviously another good sign that we’re growing as team so that was really important.

“With back-to-back clean sheets, you’ve got to praise the defence because they’ve been outstanding the last two games.

“It’s important to pick up points as early as possible in this league. Four points in the space of a week against two good teams can only be seen as a positive for us.

“The fans were excellent again today, their support doesn’t go unnoticed. Every week they always get us going and come in their numbers, even in the away ones.

“The fans give us that lift to keep on going games and that was seen again today."

The Exiles turn their attentions away from league action with a first round Emirates FA Cup clash against Peterborough United next weekend.

County face the Posh for the first time at Rodney Parade since 2013 and Kamwa is expecting another challenging test for this side.

“It’s going to be another tough game, Peterborough are very good League One side,” he added.

“It’s a side I know a little bit about but we’re going to focus on ourselves and stick to our principles.

“We’ve got great players who can compete against the very best and we’ve shown that in games this season.

“We’ll approach the game the same as any other - with the believe and hunger to get the win."
