Exiles on the Road | Eastleigh Away Day Guide

This Tuesday night, we turn our attention back to the FA Cup as head to Hampshire to take on Eastleigh. For many fans, this will be their first visit to the Silverlake Stadium, with our last trip there being in 2010. You can find out everything you need to know about the game in this Eastleigh away day guide.

Where is the Silverlake Stadium?

The Silverlake Stadium is located at:

Stoneham Lane,

Eastleigh

SO50 9HT

Where will Newport fans be during the game?

Exiles will be either in the East Stand Terrace or the South Stand for Tuesday's clash.

How do I get to The Silverlake Stadium?

There are several ways you can make the trip to Eastleigh next week.

Car

Eastleigh is around 122 miles from Rodney Parade. Depending on traffic, this journey should take around 2-2 and a half hours. You will want to take exit 34 on the M4 exit to Oxford/Newbury. You can then the A34 before merging onto the M3. Given the kick-off time, we recommend giving yourself plenty of time to account for traffic.

Train

Getting to Eastleigh on the train is straightforward. While there is no direct option, fans will only need to make one change if leaving from Newport station. You will need to take the Portsmouth Harbour train to Romsey, and then change to Eastleigh. The train time, with the transfer included, is roughly 2 hours and 15 minutes.

We recommend getting the 14:44 or 15:44 train to get there for kick-off. These would get you to Eastleigh at 17:20 and 18:20, respectively.

Unfortunately for fans, getting the train back is not going to be as simple. You would need to stay in Eastleigh or the surrounding areas overnight, with no train back after the final whistle. The trains back in the morning are not as direct, with some requiring two changes. You will need to wait until 08:51 to be able to have a route with just one transfer, and for this, you would need to change at Southampton Central.

Coach

The easiest way to get to Eastleigh this Tuesday night is by taking one of the coaches organised by the NCAFC Supporter’s Club.

Can I park near the stadium?

There is no parking at the Silverlake Stadium, but Eastleigh provide this information in their matchday guide

Parking is available at the Concorde Club (SO50 9HQ) which is about a 5–10-minute walk from the Stadium and will cost £5 per car*.

*Price correct as of 2022-23 season & Subject to availability

How far is the train station to Eastleigh?

Eastleigh Station is not located particularly close to the stadium. It is around a 40-minute walk for fans, so, while possible, may not suit everybody.

If you are arriving by train, we recommend taking either a taxi, which will take around 10 minutes, or taking the number 2 bus towards Southampton City Centre. This will take around 11 minutes, and you will need to get off at St Nicolas Church. You will then need to walk around 10 minutes to the ground.

Where to eat and drink locally

Options for food and drink near the stadium are quite limited. If you are looking to use a venue away from the stadium, it will require some walking. The Concorde Club at the ground has accepted away support in the past, but this is not guaranteed with a bigger following.

The Cricketers Arms is a pub around a 25-minute walk from the stadium that has been popular with away fans. There is also a Wetherspoons, Wagon Works, across the road from Eastleigh station. However, we would only recommend using this if you have time to get to the stadium afterwards.

Last time out

Our last game with Eastleigh was last weekend, with the National League side scoring a late penalty to set up Tuesday’s replay.

We took the lead in the 56th minute through a James Clarke, but Eastleigh, despite being down to ten, found a way back into the game thanks to a late penalty by Chris Maguire. Despite our best efforts, we couldn’t break through the Eastleigh defence, ensuring the game would have to be settled in Hampshire.
