After a tough weekend in Buckinghamshire, Newport look to return to winning ways when they make the trip to North Yorkshire to take on Simon Weaver’s Harrogate Town.
Tuesday’s trip promises to be one of the longest of the season for Newport fans. With that in mind, let us help a little with your planning with this Harrogate Town away day guide.
Where is The EnviroVent Stadium?
The EnviroVent Stadium is located at:
59 Wetherby Road,
Harrogate
HG2 7SG
How do I get to The EnviroVent Stadium?
The following are how you can get to Harrogate Town away on Tuesday night:
Car
The EnviroVent Stadium is 227 miles from Rodney Parade, making it one of the longest away days of the season. The drive will take around 3 hours and 57 minutes if you take the toll road and the M1. If you don’t take the toll road, the journey will be longer. It will be around 242 miles and take around 4 hours and 15 minutes, depending on traffic.
Train
Due to the late kick-off time, fans travelling by train will not be able to travel there and back on Tuesday. If you want to travel by train, you will need to find accommodation to do so.
Harrogate’s stadium is around a 25-minute walk from the train station, and you can jump on a bus to the stadium from the bus centre, which is directly next to the train station.
To give yourself time to get to Harrogate and enjoy the town a little before the game, we would recommend taking the 12:07 train from Newport to Manchester Piccadilly. You will need to swap in Manchester and transfer to Manchester Victoria.
At Victoria, take the 16:00 to Leeds, where you will arrive at 16:47. You can then swap to Harrogate on the 16:59 train, arriving there at 17:33.
Alternatively, you can take the 13:07 train towards London Paddington and get off at Bristol Parkway. You can then go from there to Leeds on the 13:44 train, arriving at 17:01. Finally, take the 17:31 to Harrogate, arriving at 18:05.
Both of these routes involve multiple changes, with the journey time being around the five-hour mark, providing there are no delays or cancellations.
Coach
Harrogate on a Tuesday night is far from an ideal fixture for fans to get to. As such, we recommend taking the most relaxing option and jumping on the NCAFC Supporter’s Club
Can I park near the stadium?
There is no matchday parking at The EnviroVent Stadium. However, you may be able to find parking near the stadium in the residential areas. Fans should be considerate of locals, though, and remember that parking restrictions may apply.
The Cedar Court Hotel is located around 15 minutes from the ground and offers parking. This is on a first-come, first-serve basis, with fans needing to pay at reception upon arrival.
If you have no luck near the stadium, Harrogate’s official away day guide also recommends checking car parks in the town centre.
How far is the train station to Harrogate Town?
The EnviroVent Stadium is around a 25-minute walk from the stadium. Fans can also jump on the number 7 bus from the bus station, which runs regularly and takes five minutes. A taxi ride would take around five minutes and is likely to be a very affordable option.
Where to eat and drink locally
The Woodlands Pub on Wetherby Road (HG2 7AB) is only 10 minutes away from the stadium and has been welcoming to away supporters in the past. Fans should note that no alcohol is served in the away end.
Harrogate has a lovely town centre that is within walking distance of the stadium. Depending on the time of your arrival, you may be able to squeeze something in there. Albert Street and Parliament Street are popular spots for food in the town.
Last time out
Our last encounter with Harrogate Town was earlier this season. We welcomed them to Rodney Parade on October 7th. Unfortunately, we were on the end of a 2-1 loss, with the visitors scoring either side of the half-time break.
George Thomson handed Harrogate the lead when he fired home from outside the box before Anthony O’Connor headed home a Thomson corner in the 52nd minute. Will Evans would claw one back for us six minutes later, but the visitors stood strong and held on to take all three points back to Yorkshire.
