Newport County attacker Offrande Zanzala has been presented with the Professional Footballers Association’s Community Champion Award.
The award aims to raise awareness of the support PFA members provide to their club’s community initiatives throughout the season.
Zanzala was recognised for his ongoing support of Newport’s County in the Community work in the local community.
Since the start of the 2023/24 campaign, the forward has attended numerous match day visit activities at Rodney Parade to meet local young people and to attend school celebration events.
The No.10 has been unlucky with injuries during his two years with the Exiles but he has been really supportive of our work in the Community.
Oz is always a hit with young people when attending Holiday Camps as he’s always smiling and happy to sign autographs and pose for pictures.
“I am delighted to win this award," said Zanzala after receiving the award.
“To be able to help the community is so important to myself as I know how much it means to young inspiring footballers to see an example or receive support from a professional.
“ I have enjoyed going into schools and to the local football camps to play my part in giving back and representing who I am as a person in character as well as representing the club.
"To make a difference in someone’s life and push them that 1% is the key to becoming a better person and achieving your goals.”
County in the Community, Chief Executive Officer, Norman Parselle added: “It has been a very frustrating time for Oz this past two years with injuries, but every time he attends a community visit he is really engaged in what’s going on.
“He is happy to talk with people about himself and listen to what people themselves have to say, which is brilliant.
“He is always smiling even if it’s not the best weather or conditions on that day. Oz is a worthy winner of the PFA – Community Champion 2023/24 at Newport County AFC.”
