Newport County boss Graham Coughlan praised his side’s resilience after they secured a precious point against Barrow at Rodney Parade, despite playing the entire second half with ten men.
Skipper Ryan Delaney was sent off for a second yellow card in the 42nd minute, but held on to maintain their unbeaten home record in the league after Shane McLoughlin’s cracking opener was eventually cancelled out by a Dean Campbell 68th minute penalty.
“I have got a top group of fellas in that dressing room,’’ declared Coughlan. “Their resilience is unbelievable and I have been lucky that every player that comes in understands the DNA of this football club. They work their socks off and represent the badge extremely well.
“I asked the lads for a reaction and they gave one because they knew that as a group, manager and players, we let ourselves down at Crawley.
“We were up against a really good team. A really strong, physical, fit and well-organised team and credit to Barrow.
“But we still had the best chance of the second half as well – we could have won the game with 10 men. That goes to show how strong this group is, how they react and the qualities we have in that changing room.”
