Omar Bogle | “It’s good to be back…”

Newport County Striker Omar Bogle has been ‘frustrated’ looking on from the sidelines but is delighted to be back and scoring goals.

Bogle, returned from injury at the tail-end of August during our 3-1 win over Sutton United in Sky Bet League Two at Rodney Parade in which he played 24 minutes of the 90.

Bogle was delighted to be back on the Rodney Parade pitch in front of the Amber Army but also expressed his frustrations about having to watch on during his injury period: “To be out injured before the season even started, is not good. Especially with all the hard-work we had prepared during the pre-season.” Declared the striker.

Bogle wasn’t satisfied with how his pre-season panned out: “I missed two weeks of pre-season, which hindered my preparation for the upcoming season (2023-24 season).”

Bogle suffered a hamstring injury during our pre-season clash with Pontypridd United and a separate quad injury on his return away at Yeovil Town in our penultimate pre-season fixture, prior the start of the new campaign.

Bogle who was the Exiles’ top goal scorer last campaign (19 goals in all competitions) was pleased with how his fellow strikers Will Evans and Seb Palmer-Houlden held the fort during his absence: “It was just really great to see the team do well to be honest – that’s the main thing.

“Will (Evans) bringing the goals in, Seb (Palmer-Houlden) playing really well and the team as a whole just doing fantastically well. So overall was just good to see.”

Bogle who has scored three in his last four appearances explained the real reason he’s reluctant to share his goal target: “In terms of how many I score, I don’t put a limit on it.

“I know how good I can be, so why put a limit on it? I know I can score goals.” He confirmed.

“Last year I scored a fair few goals, in a team that as a whole didn’t create that many chances, the way the Gaffer has got us working, working hard, creating more chances, we will all, as a team be scoring goals.”

Omar Bogle will be looking to add to his goal tally tomorrow (September 30) when we head to Salford City in the hope of returning to winning ways. Read the match preview here.
