Exiles on the Road: Crawley Town Away Day Guide

After three successive home games in league and cup, County hit the road again this Saturday when they make the long journey to Crawley Town and the Broadfield Stadium.

Newport will hope to build on their 3-0 at Forest Green Rovers in their last away game. Here’s everything you need to know before you make the long trip south this weekend.

Where is the Broadfield Stadium?

Broadfield Stadium is located at:

Broadfield Stadium

Winfield Way

Crawley

RH11 9RX

Where will Newport fans be during the game?

Newport fans will have the option of both seated and standing tickets for Saturday’s match. Away fans at the Broadfield Stadium are housed in the North Terrace and a section of the East Stand.

How do I get to the Broadfield Stadium?

Crawley is one of the tougher away games of the season to get to. Thankfully, there are plenty of options available for Exiles looking to make the trip south this weekend.

Car

Crawley is one of the longest away days of the season, so you will want to be on the road nice and early on Saturday. Broadfield Stadium is 174 miles from Rodney Parade, with the journey taking approximately 3 hours and 15 minutes, depending on traffic.

Train

There is no direct train from Newport to Crawley. As such, you will need to take the train from Newport to London Paddington, then take the tube to London Victoria before taking a train to Crawley train station. This whole journey takes approximately 3 hours and 15 minutes, depending on transfer times and the tube.

Alternatively, you could head to Gatwick Airport train station and go from there to the Broadfield Stadium. This journey is much more convoluted. You would need to take the train to London Paddington from Newport, switch to the Elizabeth Line and get off at Farringdon before taking the train to Gatwick. From there, you could take the 10 or 20 Fastway bus to the stadium.

Coach

The most convenient option for getting to the Broadfield Stadium this weekend is by taking one of the official supporter's coaches arranged by the NCAFC Supporter’s Club.

Can I park near the stadium?

While you can not park at the Broadfield Stadium, parking options are nearby. Crawley Town’s website has the following information:

There are free parking options close to the stadium. As you come towards the stadium off the A23 look out for Broadfield Park on your left. There is free parking here in the William Reed Car Park. Look out for this sign just after the pedestrian crossing. This car park closes an hour after full time.

How far is the train station to the Broadfield Stadium?

The Broadfield Stadium is around a 25-minute walk from Crawley station. If you want to catch the bus, then you will need to head to Stop A and catch Fastway 10 to the Stadium. One of the easiest options is to buy the Plusbus ticket when you purchase your train ticket to Crawley. Information about the Plusbus is available here.

Where to eat and drink locally

There is not a huge selection of pubs available for a pre-match drink near the Broadfield Stadium. However, the club does have a fan zone located outside the South Stand of the stadium. This is open to both home and away supporters and provides a lively pre-match atmosphere where fans can talk about the game pre-match.

A mobile pizza truck is located outside RedzBar, a family friend bar by the South Terrace. This will be open before the match.

Last time out

Our last encounter with Crawley was one packed with plenty of drama. We welcomed Crawley to Rodney Parade on January 2nd this year, with the game ending in a 2-2 draw. Crawley had taken a two-goal lead thanks to former Exile Dom Telford’s brace. However, we were able to rescue a point in the final 10 minutes, with substitutes Matty Dolan and Offrande Zanzala hitting the net.
