Newport secured all three points at the Mazuma Stadium as Palmer-Houlden headed home the winner at the back-stick in the 56th minute.
Recently returned from injury, Palmer-Houlden made a fantastic mark on Newport’s clash with Morecambe on Tuesday evening as he netted his first goal since returning from injury. The ball fell to the striker who was at the right place at the right time and headed home from close range past Smith in goal.
Palmer-Houlden was naturally pleased with returning to the scoresheet although was equally pleased to send the 83 travelling Exiles home with smiles on their faces: “We’ve got to give huge credit to the fans,” Seb began. “It’s a long journey in the freezing cold, so I am delighted they have seen us come away with the win.
“They are a 12th man and the fact they travel in numbers and cheer us on week in, week out, it really does mean so much.
“It’s a 4 hour journey, so fair play to them all and thank you from all of us.”
Palmer-Houlden spoke earlier this month (here) about his desire to net himself a goal on his return to regular football but preferring to see his side come away with a positive result, this is exactly what happened over the 90 minutes in Morecambe: “To take a two-one win against a really strong side is a massive positive.
“We backed up our win from last Saturday [Stockport] which is really important as we look to string a set of results together, so overall I’m really pleased.”
The Exiles are back in cup action this coming Saturday when they host Barnet at Rodney Parade in round two of the Emirates FA Cup as Newport look to add a third successive win and progress to round three. You can secure your tickets HERE.
