Graham Coughlan | “It’s a big performance and a massive three points"

Manager Graham Coughlan hailed a ‘big team performance’ after his side secured a 2-1 victory against Morecambe at the Mazuma Stadium on Tuesday Night.

The Exiles claimed all three points in Lancashire as goals from Will Evans and Seb Palmer-Houlden were enough to hand Coughlan’s men back-to-back victories in the league for the first time since August.

“That was one hell of a performance,” Coughlan began

“We had to dig deep, show resilience and show character on a bitterly cold night in Morecambe. The conditions were tough to play in but that was a brilliant performance from my lads.

“It was not tippy tappy football or the glitch and glamour, that performance was just pure grit and character, and that’s what you have to deliver in this division to be successful in games.

“We grew into the game early on. It was a similar start to the West Ham game when we conceded early, but I’m proud as punch of the lads with the resilience that they showed not just to come here tonight but also coming back from one down.

“It’s a big team performance and massive three points for us. Once again the lads showed a different side to their game. Saturday they played with cool calm heads, tonight we showed character and spirit not in a very pretty performance.

“That win was for the 83 fans that made the long journey. We wanted to send them home happy and that was for them.”

Seb Palmer-Houlden netted the winning goal for County on just his second appearance after returning from injury.

And Coughlan was left pleased with his performance and his attacking front three in what was a moral-boasting win for County.

“It’s no coincidence that he’s taken part in the last two games and we’ve won the last two games,” he added.

“I thought the whole front three were excellent tonight. We went with three strikers up front away at Morecambe on a Tuesday night. I don’t think there are many teams that will do that, but we are going after teams and I suppose fortune favours the brave.

“We went with the three up front tonight and fortunately the two we have selected have come up trumps.”
