Defender extends contract for new campaign.
Harrison Bright has committed his immediate future to Newport County after agreeing a one-year extension to his contract, subject to EFL approval.
Harrison’s current contract was due to expire at the close of the 22/23 campaign, but both club and player agreed to trigger a one-year option to extend.
Having spent his early career in the Cardiff City Academy, he moved to the Exiles in 2020. Since then, he has spent time with the Newport Academy and the development squads, with his hard work on and off the pitch earning him two appearances in the first team squad.
“The past three years at the club has been a fantastic experience,’’ declared Harrison. “Having come through the Academy set-up, I’m desperate to break into the first team and impress the manager.
“I’m very proud to play for this club, especially being from around the area. I’m just really looking forward to the start of the new season now.”
Newport boss Graham Coughlan expressed his delight at the news, adding: “Harrison is a young lad who has come through the system.
“While he has a long way to go, he’s showing real promise. He’s a proper defender and I enjoy working with him. I’ve taken a real shine to him and he’s one I have very high hopes for.”
