Bryn Morris signs for Newport County

Bryn Morris is an Exile!

Newport boss Graham Coughlan has added his third new signing to the Newport County squad in 27-year-old defensive midfielder Bryn Morris.

Bryn will join the Exiles on a two-year deal when his contract with fellow league two side Grimsby Town expires at the end of the month, subject to EFL approval.

“Bryn is a great addition,” declared the Newport manager. “He has a lot of experience and will give us additional ball control in the middle of the park.

“He has a great engine which will fit into how we play. He is also a great character who displays strong leadership qualities, so I’m really looking forward to working with him.”

Having started his career in the academy at Middlesborough, Bryn made his first-team debut in 2013 before gaining more experience with loan spells at Burton, Coventry, York and Walsall. He then joined Shrewsbury Town on a permanent basis in 2017 before finding his way to Grimsby in 2022 after spells at Portsmouth and Burton.

Bryn, who made 42 appearances and scored twice last season for the Mariners, was delighted to make the move to the Exiles.

“The Gaffer (Graham) made contact quite early and I really liked the way he came across,” said Bryn.

“On a personal level he seemed a good guy. He spoke highly about the club and everything that it’s about. It just seemed a great fit for me. I’m looking forward to settling in, having a good pre-season, and getting going again with the fixtures.”
