Newport County AFC are delighted to announce the loan signing of Hayden Lindley from Aston Villa, subject to international clearance.
The 19-year-old midfielder progressed through the ranks of Blackburn Rovers and Manchester City before joining Villa.
The Villa Under-23s captain made his first-team debut in a 2021 FA Cup tie against Liverpool, coming on as a 66th-minute substitute against the Premier League giants.
Hayden had more first-team experience in August of 2021 by playing the final eight minutes of Villa’s 6-0 win at Barrow in last season’s EFL Cup.
He also has a cup medal to his name as, in 2021, he was a key cog of the Villa side that beat Liverpool 2-1 in the final of the FA Youth Cup.
While naturally a defensive midfielder, Hayden has shown his versatility at a young age, having also played as a right-back and centre back last season for the Villa academy.
On the deadline day signing of Hayden, Newport manager James Rowberry said: “I’m delighted to welcome Hayden to the club!
"His leadership qualities as Aston Villa Under-23s captain and his attributes as a midfielder will help us as we aim to make this season a successful one.
"I know you will give Hayden a warm welcome when you see him!”
Welcome to Newport, Hayden!
