Newport County's Development side had a tough afternoon against a strong Bournemouth U21 outfit, as the Premier League academy team ran out 8-2 winners.
Jonah Williams and Lewys Twamley both found the back of the net for County, but four goals from Dominic Sadi, a brace by Emiliano Marcondes and one each from Noa Boutin and Ewan Daws proved too strong for County.
Bournemouth started strongly when Boutin struck narrowly wide on two minutes before Marcondes hit the post four minutes later.
The Cherries did take the lead in the 8th minute though when Marcondes played Boutin in down the left who squared for Sadi to tap in for 1-0.
County's first chance came in the 18th minute when young winger Twamley curled his effort narrowly wide of the far post from the right of the box.
Marcondes fired wide later in the half and soon after he was denied impressively by Evan Ovendale who beat away his strike from inside the area.
Sadi made it 2-0 in the 38th minute though with a strike into the bottom corner to double Bournemouth's lead.
Three minutes later it was 3-0 as 27-year-old Marcondes, who has represented Brentford and Bournemouth in the Championship on a regular basis, scored from close range after Boutin's cross.
County did get a goal back in the closing stages of the half though as Williams slid in to convert a low cross from the right of the area to give the Port players something to smile about.
Twamley went close early in the first half, but he was kept out by a good save after his shot from a tight angle, before Bournemouth re-established themselves.
Just before the hour, Sadi got his hat-trick as his strike went in off the crossbar as he was assisted by Boutin and in the 61st minute it was 5-1 as Sadi set up Marcondes who slotted past an on-rushing Ovendale.
Boutin then made it 6-1 in the 66th minute after he converted Marcondes' pass but shortly after County got a goal back.
After Sam Bowen was brought down in the box, Twamley stepped up and slotted the spot-kick into the low right-hand corner, sending the keeper the wrong way for 6-2.
Bournemouth finished strongly though with two goals in the last four minutes from Sadi again and Daws to make it 7 and 8-2 respectively.
