Saturday's game marks the start of our 2022-23 FA Cup campaign as we welcome Colchester United to Rodney Parade.
County gaffer Graham Coughlan's first FA Cup game as manager will be a re-run of his first in League Two, as that too was a home game against Colchester.
Everyone at Newport will be hoping for same again, with Will Evans' seventh-minute header earned County a 1-0 win in the league game on October 22.
Since then, the Exiles have earned two impressive draws on the road at Mansfield and Northampton who were 4th and 3rd respectively going into the games.
Colchester meanwhile have earned two points from a possible nine since their last trip to Rodney Parade, with home draws against Crawley (2-2) and Stevenage (1-1) being followed up by a 3-1 defeat at Barrow in midweek.
County's only injury absentee is Offrande Zanzala who is currently recovering from a setback on his hamstring problem while Colchester were without Cole Skuse and John Akinde in the Tuesday night defeat in Barrow.
As per previous seasons, if Saturday's game ends in a draw after 90 minutes, there will be a replay at Colchester United, as County aim to make Round Two.
The second-round draw will be on BBC 2, Monday at 7pm.
The Exiles have a proud recent history in the world's oldest football competition, beating the likes of Middlesbrough, Leeds and Leicester in recent seasons and hosting both Tottenham and Manchester City in memorable Rodney Parade nights.
