Following the initial two day return of the players, the squad then departs on its pre-season training camp in Cheshire.
The location has been carefully selected in order to provide the squad with all the facilities needed to contribute to a successful training camp.
The venue possesses a full grass pitch for ball work, gym for strength and conditioning, pool for recovery and strength and conditioning, golf course for some relaxation and injection of the competitive spirit and studios for players to partake in extra fitness sessions.
Set in the Cheshire countryside, the hotel is in a quiet area that will allow the squad to focus on its work, providing a tight-knit environment that will allow the players to bond and train together throughout the entirety of the 5-day camp within an environment that allows the staff to ensure there is a continuation and development of the clubs’ culture and philosophy.
Across the five days, the squad will undergo:
• Double sessions on the pitch
• Team bonding events
• Gym-based sessions
The pre-season camp won’t include any fixtures against opposition however the camp is designed to condition players so that they are ready to participate in the friendly fixture schedule once the squad return to Newport.
On the training camp, James Rowberry said: "I’m thankful to Gavin and the board for helping us secure the excellent facilities that we will be using.
"This will help to continue the standards that we are trying to achieve. It will be an opportunity for us all to work closely together as we will hopefully have some new recruits in by this stage of pre-season.”
