Newport got back to winning ways with a dramatic 4-2 win over promotion rivals Tranmere Rovers at Rodney Parade.
After a 0-0 scoreline at half-time, a six-goal second half was edged by County. Aaron Lewis and Dom Telford's penalty put Newport 2-0 up before Tranmere pulled it back to 2-2.
Finn Azaz's sensational goal and Telford's second got Newport the much-needed win though.
The early stages at Rodney Parade were limited to half chances with Tranmere's Kane Hemmings as well as Dom Telford and Cameron Norman for County all having headers grabbed by opposition goalkeepers within the first 10 minutes.
Tranmere's Callum MacDonald hit a free-kick into the wall before Rob Street had the first major shot at goal by having an effort parried away well by Ross Doolan after Crystal Palace loanee Street won the ball high up the pitch and charged towards goal.
A minute later, Scot Bennett curled narrowly over the bar from the edge of the box and Street went close again soon after by nodding Robbie Willmott's free-kick over the top of the goal as well.
After Josh Hawkes struck over the bar on 47 minutes, Newport got the second half going superbly and took the lead in the 49th minute through Lewis' fine strike.
An impressive passing move from County ended with Telford teeing up Lewis on the left of the box who curled into the far corner with his right foot, giving Doohan in the Tranmere goal no chance.
Telford struck wide of the post minutes later after being played through by Jake Cain but Telford didn't have to wait long to get his goal.
On 56 minutes, Finn Azaz was tripped in the box and, after steadying himself, Telford tucked home the spot-kick for 2-0 in the 58th minute.
Tranmere got back into the contest in the 65th minute though through Josh Dacres-Cogley who found the net from close range to make it 2-1.
County had good openings to extend their lead to two again. First, Telford curled a low effort that was well saved by Doohan low to his right and Doohan made a fantastic save seconds later.
On as a sub, Alex Fisher's first touch was a shot that Doohan terrifically tipped behind for a corner in a one-on-one after Fisher ran onto Telford's flick-on header.
It was Tranmere who got the next goal though as Kieron Morris found the back of the net with a deflected strike from the right of the box for 2-2 in the 84th minute.
Azaz then curled in from distance with a sensational strike into the top right corner and Telford secured the points with a tap-in in second-half stoppage time after Fisher's shot was saved into his path and he was never going to miss.
